While not as difficult as camping out in the winter, a spring camping trip isn’t for first-time RVers. While there’s plenty of temperate weather and sunny days, snow, rain, and wind can present a number of unique issues you may not be prepared for. To ensure you’re ready for a spring RV camping trip, check out our helpful tips below.

Prep For the Weather

Spring nights tend to be cold, so you’ll want to be sure to bring along a few sets of warm clothes. We also advise bringing along a few heavy blankets for you and all of your passengers, as well as a space heater or some heavy curtains for your RV. Spring can also bring quite a bit of rain, so don’t forget to bring some rain gear like a waterproof jacket, boots, and hat.

Prep Your RV

Before you leave for your camping trip, we advise applying weather stripping to all of your RV’s doors and windows. You’ll also want to give your RV a quick inspection to locate any cracks or holes that need to be sealed to keep wind, rain, and cold temperatures out of your rig. If you’re traveling in the early spring, you may see some freezing temperatures here and there. To avoid a plumbing disaster, we recommend adding antifreeze to your black and gray water tanks and wrapping your pipes in towels to help protect them from a freeze.
